Midnight Express description

The dance world’s most original choreographer Peter Schaufuss presents an adaptation of Billy Hayes’s smash-hit book.

Despite the last-minute departure of maverick prodigy Sergei Polunin, this dance adaptation of Hayes' autobiographical tale of his harrowing prison experience remains electrifying.

Johan Christensen from the Peter Schaufuss Ballet performs the lead role of Hayes. Joining him in the cast is former Artistic Director of English National Ballet Wayne Eagling, returning to the stage in the role of the father.

Show choreographer / conceptualist Schaufuss is one of the world's great masters of modern ballet, and Billy Hayes himself has personally supervised this production.

Midnight Express will not only dazzle admirers of Schaufuss' unconventional style, but inspire anyone who identifies with the themes of Hayes' bestselling 1977 book – later made into an Academy Award®-winning Hollywood film which made an international star of John Hurt.
